Here is a simple version of some comfort food, the good old hamburger... but not made with any beef or ham or meat bi-products. A simple tuna fish that would fit in with your Mediterranean diet plan.
The ingredients are simple by using canned tuna, it can be put together in a few minutes for a quick dinner. When divided into 4 parts to make 4 burgers, each burger was calculated to be around 127 calories each. At that low count, you could afford a tasty organic bun to go with it!
Ingredients:
- 1 can tuna packed in water (drained)
- 1/2 cup flaked buckwheat
- 60 grams liquid egg whites
- 1 cup chopped onions
- some seasonings such as Garlic Plus
As you stir all the ingredients together, the buckwheat will absorb any liquids and the mixture will start to form a doughy consistency.
Once the mixture starts to form a ball in the bowl, score four equal partitions in the tuna.
Scoop one of the quarter sections, and in your clean hands, form a burger pattie.
Four burger patties can be made from the mix. Place them on an oiled grill - or I used non-stick oil spray.
Cook until lightly browned on one side. Flip the burgers around and cook until light brown on the other side.
When the burgers are lightly browned on both sides, they are ready to serve.
You can serve them on a home made organic kaiser bun. See how to make the buns on my You tube channel here:
